Ahkeem Shaw is a Miami–Fort Lauderdale–based visual artist whose work bridges imagination, memory, and faith - transforming everyday materials and moments into modern surrealist narratives about resilience, possibility, and purpose. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Shaw grew up surrounded by the resourcefulness and cultural creativity that now defines the heart of his practice. When he relocated to Miami during the pandemic, he didn’t just find a new home, he found a place where his artistic gifts could finally flourish.
Though Ahkeem has been creating art his entire life, his professional journey began in earnest during Miami Art Week in 2021, when he sold his first sculpture. That moment, which he credits entirely to God, served as a catalyst. Since then, his artistic reach has expanded across the city: murals in more than ten Airbnbs, commissions for restaurants and corporate headquarters, public installations, and three consecutive years as a featured artist in the celebrated The Art of Furniture (Now, The Art Of X) exhibition sponsored by City Furniture.
A versatile creator across mediums - oil on canvas, sculpture, installation, and immersive design, Shaw refuses to be confined by genre. Instead, he follows the story within each vision, bringing it to life with expressive detail, vibrant emotion, and an unshakable commitment to producing work that aligns with his faith and moral grounding. His pieces often explore the beauty of resourcefulness, the courage of beginnings, and the light we carry even when the world demands shadows.
In 2025, Shaw debuted his first major fine-art collection, Launch Day, during Miami Art Week—an exhibition presented in collaboration with Peppers Media Group (PMG) and showcased at the Nolcha Shows’ experience at the historic M2 Theater in Miami Beach. The collection, marked by its modern surrealist storytelling, established Shaw as a rising voice in contemporary art. Launch Day frames the dreams of Black and brown children as heroic, limitless, and worthy of flight—using symbolism, bold color, and imaginative world-building to celebrate resilience and self-belief.
As his career continues to ascend, Shaw remains grounded in service. Through PMG’s innovative art education initiative, The Art Of X, he serves as a mentor to young artists—passing forward the lessons, discipline, and faith that shaped his own rise. His mission is clear: to use art as a vessel for love, hope, and positive transformation, creating work that uplifts communities while inspiring people around the world to see possibility in themselves.
From humble murals to museum-ready canvases, from makeshift courts in Philadelphia to Miami Art Week’s global stage, Ahkeem Shaw’s journey is a testament to what can happen when talent meets faith, perseverance meets opportunity, and imagination refuses to stay grounded.
